Biography

Dr J Tomson qualified as a physician in 1999 and completed specialist Cardiology training in the WM Deanery, UK (CCT) in 2015. He also undertook Cardiovascular research, trials and epidemiology training at the University of Oxford where he completed his doctorate (MD).

​

He is a Consultant Cardiologist based at the Royal Free London Hospitals and consults privately in London. He has interests in Cardiovascular disease especially in disorders relating to cardiac rhythm, cardiac dysfunction, coronary disease and in cardiovascular disease prevention.

​

​Dr Tomson’s specialist interests include cardiac rhythm management, cardiac device therapy (cardiac resynchronisation therapy, pacemakers, implantable cardiac defibrillators), heart failure, cardiomyopathies, palpitations and syncope.

​

He also has expertise in cardiovascular imaging, cardiovascular research including epidemiology and drug trials. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK (MRCP), and is a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) by the IBHRE. He conducts cardiovascular research and teaches medical students at the UCL, London.
